About

Jane likes to jump on the bandwagon. Jane likes to read self-help books. Jane has many friends and all her friends seem to be getting married or engaged. Jane too wants to get married. Why not? Everybody else is doing it. With the help of a self-help book Jane learns some techniques, some old-fashion techniques, of how to impress a man. Jane is impatient. She decides to apply her new acquired knowledge on the first man she meets. The doorbell rings, surprise-surprise, there is a man at the door. Here is Jane’s chance, chance to impress. Or not?

Inspiration

The idea for Jane comes from the many New Year’s Eve skits Andreea grew up watching on Romanian television. There is a lot of silliness intended in the skit. The silliness derived from social norms and how these influence one’s decision. Also there is a focus on how absurd certain stereotypes are when it comes to the interaction between women and men. The intention was to find a mismatched pair of characters, and tell Jane’s story.

Visual style

We filmed the skit on a stage with a colorful backdrop. Our intention was from the start to integrate fun illustrations and animation that contributes to the narrative and to the overall silliness of the story.
